Citibot is the lightest folding kayak in our fleet and is ultra-portable. Ten feet long and only 24 lbs., it was beautifully designed to fit into a backpack for easy transport and storage. It assembles quickly and is the perfect kayak to take on a hike, bike or camping trip. You can finally paddle in that hard to reach body of water you've been eying. Want to paddle closer to home? Throw it in your car or hop on the subway to take it to the beach or get it in that river that flows through town. Never before has there been a kayak that provides you with as much flexibility to find your next adventure. The Citibot comes with backpack, footpegs and Airfom seat.

Light, sturdy, compact and comfortable, and affordable were the key design criteria when development of the Citibōt began.
Weighing in at 24 pounds, requiring ten minutes to assemble, capable of holding a 210 lb payload, outfitted with a very comfortable seat, and astonishingly affordable, the Citibōt is now a reality. You can now wake up Saturday morning in your apartment in the middle of the city, toss your boat on your back and walk to the river for a leisurely paddle in the river. Or, keep the Citibōt in your car trunk and when you spot that beautiful body of water, be out paddling in minutes. With the Citibōt, it couldn’t be easier.
A new seat frame not only holds the seat itself, but also provides structural support for the boat's cockpit. The new seat includes a bottom cushion with adjustable firmness, an adjustable lumbar support and a supportive back rest.
Like several of our existing kayaks, the Citibōt frame is first assembled completely outside the boat skin and then placed inside. Tensioning comes from our much-copied adjustable stern tensioning mechanism and two full length sponsons. The sponsons are also unique in that they attach to the frame gunwales when the frame is assembled and require no separate pockets. The two chambered sponson is easily inflated though a single tube.
Another new feature being introduced with the Citibōt is the cockpit coaming, which sheds deck wash nicely and securely holds a spray skirt.
The Citibōt belies its 10 foot length by tracking extremely well, primarily because of the scalloped cross section of hull fabric when in the water. It creates the feeling of having three full-length skegs. Stability is good because of a generous beam.
All materials in the Citibōt are the best available, with a 35 oz. Elvaloy hull fabric and urethane coated polyester deck. Don't be misled by its diminutive size -- the Citibōt is not a toy. It is an extremely well constructed Folbot, available in eight colors, completely made in the USA.
NEW HULL MATERIAL
What is it?
The fabric has been used previously in the industry, mainly for inflatable boats. The principal component is
- a polymer that provides both toughness and flexibility.
What are the characteristics?
It it designed to have superior abrasion, tear, puncture and UV resistance to past fabrics. It does not break down over time and is resistant to changes due to prolonged exposure to heat, UV and salt water. Your boat’s hull will continue to maintain its shape, flexibility, air tightness and color – and better protect you from sharp surfaces.
How much does it weigh?
Essentially the same as our current hull material, given manufacturer’s tolerances
(38.3 oz/sq yd or 1300 gr/m2).
How does it perform vs. previous fabrics?
In a Taber Abrasion H18 Test the new material performed 83% better than the old fabric (on the face, 196% better for the back side).
New Material (Face/Back) – 1917/2000 cycles to failure
Old Material (Face/Back) – 1050/675 cycles to failure
Why the change?
This is the fabric we wanted on our personal Folbots for the waters around Charleston, SC to deal with razor sharp oysters. If we wanted it we also wanted to offer it to all customers.
Can I still get the black, hypalon hull?
We will be phasing into the new material but will supply hypalon as supplies last. We will continue to support our lifetime guarantee for existing Folbots with hypalon hulls.
How does it impact the cost of the boat?
The new hull material does not change the price of the boat.
What color is it? How do I clean it?
The material is light gray in color which looks great and adds to visibility on the water. Light scrubbing with water cleans it well.
for inflatable boats are available but tough dirt can be cleaned with Soft Scrub.
Can I pack it up wet?
We are still testing this and will advise.
