Why Buy A Folbot?
The reasons why you should own a folding kayak
Storage
Folding kayaks can be stored in a closet, under the bed or in the trunk of a car.
Portability
Folding kayaks can be carried anywhere. They can be checked as luggage on an airplane (hardshells are prohibited); fit in car trunk, on the back of a motorcycle and inside an RV or float plane.
Performance
Folbots track extremely well and little corrective paddling is required.
Stability
The fabric of the skin embraces the water and the flex in the frame adds to stability. Sponsons provide excellent secondary stability. A Folbot will only roll if that is the paddler's intention.
Actually feel the water
The experience of paddling is enhanced by being able to feel the movement of the water through the kayak's skin, which cannot be done in a hardshell.
Quiet
Skin on frame boats are quieter in the water than a hardshell, as the fabric absorbs noise. Advantageous for bird/wildlife watching and used by Special Forces.
Sailing
Can sail large cockpit Folbot models. This enhances the kayaking experience and also makes it easier to cover large amounts of distance with reduced fatigue.
Flexibility
The flexibility of the frame is an advantage in rough open water.
Great Fishing Platforms
Stability and larger cockpits make fishing from a kayak easier (unless it is a kayak designed specifically for that purpose).
Easy to repair or modify
Each part of a Folbot is either replaceable or repairable.
No need for a roof-rack
Adds a layer of security to the kayak and also improves the vehicle's gas mileage. Eliminates having to wrestle a large heavy kayak on to the vehicle's roof.
Weight
Folbots are generally lighter than comparable sized hardshells.
