Citibōt

Designer Statement.

Light, sturdy, compact and comfortable, and affordable were the key design criteria when development of the Citibōt began.

Weighing in at 24 pounds, requiring ten minutes to assemble, capable of holding a 210 lb payload, outfitted with a very comfortable seat, and astonishingly affordable, the Citibōt is now a reality. You can now wake up Saturday morning in your apartment in the middle of the city, toss your boat on your back and walk to the river for a leisurely paddle in the river. Or, keep the Citibōt in your car trunk and when you spot that beautiful body of water, be out paddling in minutes. With the Citibōt, it couldn’t be easier.

A new seat frame not only holds the seat itself, but also provides structural support for the boat's cockpit. The new seat includes a bottom cushion with adjustable firmness, an adjustable lumbar support and a supportive back rest.

Like several of our existing kayaks, the Citibōt frame is first assembled completely outside the boat skin and then placed inside. Tensioning comes from our much-copied adjustable stern tensioning mechanism and two full length sponsons. The sponsons are also unique in that they attach to the frame gunwales when the frame is assembled and require no separate pockets. The two chambered sponson is easily inflated though a single tube.

Another new feature being introduced with the Citibōt is the cockpit coaming, which sheds deck wash nicely and securely holds a spray skirt.

The Citibōt belies its 10 foot length by tracking extremely well, primarily because of the scalloped cross section of hull fabric when in the water. It creates the feeling of having three full-length skegs. Stability is good because of a generous beam.

All materials in the Citibōt are the best available, with a 35 oz. Hypalon hull fabric and urethane coated polyester deck. Don't be misled by its diminutive size -- the Citibōt is not a toy. It is an extremely well constructed Folbot, available in eight colors, completely made in the USA.
